Founder, Education Innovators
I study development, and when you study development, you don't go to people and tell them ‘this is how you should be developed.’ You go and ask them what they need. Many international organizations failed when they did things on their own without asking the community what was needed. It's the same if majority communities make programs for minorities without cooperation and inclusion.
Anesa Colakovich was born into a multi-ethnic, multi-religious family, in which some members practiced Islam, others Orthodox Christianity, and Catholicism. Her upbringing as a minority in Kosovo fueled her interest in supporting minority groups in Kosovo, particularly through education. Currently, Colakovich works as a math teacher, and as the founder of Education Innovators, an NGO based in Mitrovica.
