Award-Winning Film Director // Screenwriter
My first film went to international film festivals in 2002. At the time, we had to record every submission on video cassette and write submissions by hand. I had to call and write to every festival to ask them to put Kosovo on the list of countries (for submission). Even now, some festivals don’t have it. My character is like that. I don't take no for an answer. If I think that something is right, I will do it no matter how much work it takes.
Lendita Zeqiraj is an award-winning director and screenwriter who captured critics attention with the release of two acclaimed narrative short films, “Balcony” and “Fence”. The shorts, both shot in uncut, single-takes, depict uninhibited moments of human interaction in ways rarely seen on the big screen. In 2019, Zeqiraj became the first in a wave of female filmmakers in Kosovo to complete her feature length film, Aga’s House, which will make its world premiere at Karlovy International film festival in late June.
