Writer // Editor
Having a woman as an editor does create space, but it doesn’t change the structure. You need more women at the editorial desk. It's not enough for 70 percent of the staff to be female, but they're all working as reporters for men in managing positions.
Lura Limani is a writer, editor and researcher from Prishtina, Kosovo, and the former editor-in-chief of Prishtina Insight. “I came after a long line of foreign editors,” said Limani. “Although they knew the context very well and they were very sensitive to the subjects that they were covering, I think it’s very different when the narrative is produced by locals, in a language that is directly accessible to the people who are decision-makers.” Much of Limani’s independent writing explores feminism in the Balkans.
