Young Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian girls are discriminated against in their own families and in the society where they are living. They face double discrimination. We need to be very strong to make change.
Shpresa Agushi is a leading activist for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian women in Kosovo. As the executive director of the Network of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Women’s Organizations of Kosovo, Agushi has been a key figure in the fight to end early marriages among girls from these communities and to increase activism among Roma, Egyptian and Ashkali youth. In 2019, Agushi was awarded the “Unknown Heroes” Award for Roma Integration by the European Union.
