Sometimes my hands get ruined, sometimes they are red, sometimes the skin peels off, but when I'm in the studio and I'm in front of a painting, I see the culmination of my happiness. Maybe it's the worst, maybe it's the best, but I'm queen there. I only feel in front of my painting and my art.
Zake Prelvukaj is renowned painter who initially came to prominence for her work depicting scenes of the atrocities of war. Never shying away from provocation, Prelvukaj uses art to address issues related to gender, violence and politics. Prelvukaj is currently a professor at the University of Prishtina, working to develop the next generation of artists.
